Patron Saint of Brewers Brings Craft Beer to Boerum Hill

In late August, four self-proclaimed “beer geeks” joined forces to set up shop in Boerum Hill. St. Gambrinus Beer Shoppe, named after the legendary patron saint for brewers, has been an immediate hit with locals. Tucked among national chains and big businesses, the shoppe is a welcome addition to Atlantic Avenue.

St. Gambrinus is a bar and a retail shop. The bar features sixteen rotating taps of specialty brews. A number of the beers currently on tap are local, including Bulkhead India Red Ale and Caddy Wompus Nitro from Barrier Brewing Company in Oceanside, Long Island, and Resin and Righteous Ale from Sixpoint Brewery in Red Hook. In addition to the many beers available at the retail shop, patrons can take home growlers of tap beer or mix-and-match six-packs.

Though its neighbors in Brownstone Brooklyn are St. Gambrinus’ top priority, the shop also intends to be a destination for craft beer lovers from afar.
