The project will partner with chefs in all 50 states to create custom BL(g)Ts that will be sold to raise funds for local LGBT centers across the country.

If you switch around the letters in LGBT, you can get America´s favorite sandwich plus one ingredient — the BL(g)T. And this summer you can have your bacon and eat it, too, while supporting the first-ever 50 State Food Tour for Equality.

They´ll be driving a truck around the country (they’re set to stop in New York on May 30) to raise awareness about equality issues with a focus on discriminatory hiring policies, and they´ll be collaborating with different chefs in every state. Don´t worry, Alaska and Hawaii — they have special pop-up projects planned for you.

The project, which you can support on Kickstarter while you count down the days until summer, will be raising funds for local LGBT centers across the country. Although the truck will only be in each state for a few days, the sandwiches will be on the menus of partnering restaurants for the whole summer. The profits from the sandwich sales will all be donated, and chefs are invited to be creative when putting the ¨g¨ in the BL(g)T. Here´s hoping a little guacamole and grape jelly will go a long way toward supporting equality.
