This Wednesday nearly a hundred vendors will come together in South Williamsburg for the first ever food and beverage trade show in the borough of Kings (yippee! the list of participating vendors is basically the list of anyone in Brooklyn we’d ever want to interview about artisanal anything). With so many makers in one place–everything from kombucha, kimchi and jam to beef jerky and gin–the level of DIY deliciousness will be off the charts.
Bianca Miraglia’s Uncouth Vermouth may have the most offensive label we’ve seen lately, but the delicate, nuanced liquid within is 100% pleasing to the palate.
Tonight Chefs for the Marcellus is hosting “Food Not Frack on Film,” an evening of short films and an informal panel discussion followed by an after-party at Jimmy’s No. 43 featuring frack-free New York beer.
It’s no easy feat to be a show-stopper on a crowded liquor store shelf, be it boutique or big box. But then again, there really isn’t anything else like Jack from Brooklyn’s Sorel liqueur.
While other awards recognize food that tastes good or food that is good for the planet, the Good Food Awards honor people who make food that is good in all senses of the word: delicious, respectful of the environment, and connected to communities and cultural traditions. This year’s finalists represented us New Yorkers well, with 17 of those finalists hailing from our great state.
At Edible Escape, our travel tasting party on October 17th, one lucky person will win a coffee brewing class from Toby’s Estate Coffee. For one of them–Meet Your Maker–we teamed up with the Brooklyn Brewery, Brooklyn Winery and NY Distilling Co. for behind-the-scenes tours of their facilities and learned how some of our favorite local beer, wine and spirits are made.
