Our June TOC reading rises a week before the solstice, when the food world’s signs of spring (pickled ramps and lilac syrup packed in the fridge, newborn calves, a flush of cucumbers in the garden) are moving towards the flavors of summer. We can’t wait for the first early summer crop of authors to fill the room this month.
We were introduced to Kirmen Uribe (BILBAO – NEW YORK – BILBAO) by a pair of great chefs (Alex Raij and Eder Montero of Txikito and St Julivert) and are thrilled to cook from his Basque country scenes. He’ll be reading alongside every-best-of-2018 listee Crystal Hana Kim (IF YOU LEAVE ME) and National Book Award Finalist Jenny Xie (EYE LEVEL) bringing her gorgeous, persimmon-skinned poems to the room.
About the Tables of Contents reading series:
Tables of Contents Readings feature readings from each of our three authors, plus snacks inspired by each author’s passages. Created and curated by Egg chef Evan Hanczor, each evening concludes with a wide-ranging discussion and Q&A between the authors and Evan. The $15 ticket covers admission, the textual snacks, and one complimentary drink!
We keep these evenings intimate and they always fill up, so get your tickets early. Also please note that while we will do our best to accommodate dietary restrictions, all snacks are predetermined and drawn from specific bits of text, so we may not be able to modify every course. Knowing in advance certainly helps, so give us a heads up.
