According to the organizers:
Is your 8-12 year old ready to learn to cook “for real”? At Brooklyn Kitchen’s first-ever cooking camp for kids, students will receive high-quality instruction from trained childhood education and food professionals for an exciting week of hands-on cooking, field trips, community-building activities, and plenty of delicious foods. Along the way, budding chefs will connect their work in the kitchen with the passions they may already be exploring in the classroom — delving into the chemistry of taste and the biological science of bread, using the scientific method and the math of fractions to custom-design their own recipes, using descriptive language in field trip journals, employing social studies methods as researchers in ways that build tolerance for cultural differences, and enjoying read-alouds and time for independent reading in our unparalleled food library. Let us help you to help your kids become “real” cooks — safely and creatively!
