From our organizers:
The Brooklyn Kitchen is proud to offer a screening of Oscar-nominated documentary Knife Skills, a short film about reentry from the prison system, second chances, and the healing power of good food. Knife Skills follows the hectic launch of Edwins restaurant in Cleveland, Ohio. In the film, we discover the challenges of men and women finding their way after their release, getting to know three trainees intimately, as well as the restaurant’s founder, who is also dogged by his past.
For this screening, we’ll be partnering with The Doe Fund, an organization in NYC that offers job training services to the formerly incarcerated. Proceeds will support Brooklyn Kitchen’s Outreach Programs, which benefit organizations such as The Doe Fund, to provide cooking classes to underserved communities.
