It’s (un)officially summer! Here, our guide to the best of what’s happening this month (and if nothing piques your interest, take a look at our full calendar).

6/1: Try your luck at Simpsons trivia at Threes Outpost, Threes Brewing’s home in Greenpoint.

6/3: Learn about All Purpose Plants with Callen Zimmerman at Swale. “Many plants are a part of special group that have the propensity to dye, provide sustenance and to help us heal. Together we will explore the magic of these plants, as to partake in dyeing fabrics, concocting teas, snacks and medicines.”

6/4: Spend a day perfecting your bread baking! “Join James Beard awarded author Sarah Owens as she helps demystify and trouble shoot baking with natural leavening. In this one day class you will be walked through the basic steps of baking with sourdough and will observe common mistakes vs. successes. Scoring technique will also be practiced. Breakfast and lunch provided.”

6/5: Never buy salad dressing again after this Our Name Is Farm workshop. “Discover the right way (because there is one) to making the best salad dressings. Then, harvest microgreens to pair with each of the three options: honey cider vinaigrette, green tahini yogurt and miso ginger.”

6/6: Join the Archestratus Cookbook Club for a discussion of Dinner at the Long Table.

6/8: Try a ton of booze at The Whisky X Brooklyn festival, with music by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys.

6/10: Become an urban plant expert. Take the Urban Plant ID class with Alyssa Dennis. “Wish you had a better way of engaging and learning about the wild medicine which grows right outside your door? Did you even know you had wild medicine growing all around you? In this workshop, participants will study common healing plants growing aboard Swale that you can also find all over New York City.”

6/11: Everything you wanted to know about kombucha but were afraid to ask will be answered at Brooklyn Brainery’s Kombucha 101 class.

6/13: “Taste of Bushwick is an annual food party celebrating the eats, drinks, and merriments of Bushwick, Brooklyn, to benefit The Bushwick Starr theater.”

6/14: “We’ll learn about how the saloons, cafes and theaters of the Lower East Side nurtured the ‘beautiful ideal’ of anarchist revolution at the turn of the 20th century” with The Saloon Agitators.

6/15: “Double your interest in urban gardening by learning how to grow your own food, and sense of interior design, in this workshop” called Ready. Set. Grow!

6/22: “Join Woldy Kusina, Square Roots and Brooklyn FoodWorks for an elegant evening to celebrate the summer solstice! Enjoy fresh, local bites paired with seasonal cocktails and Brooklyn Brewery beer.” Proceeds benefit Green City Force.
