According to the event organizers:
“Celebrate the season with a course in tree identification!
Get outside and learn to identify street trees by the details: bark, buds, leaves and tree form. Class will start with an overview of identification terminology and practice outside in the field. Join us for a gambol around the neighborhood and get to know some street trees!
Walks happen rain or shine and exact meeting locations will be emailed to you the day before the tour.
August 15: 10:30am – noon, Prospect Heights
Beginner: Calling all those with budding arboreal ardor! Look at trees and learn how to recognize those that you pass by every day. Catch the last glimpses of this season’s flowering trees!
August 15: 1:00-2:30, Fort Greene
Intermediate: If you have looked closely at trees before or taken a tree walk with the Brainery – welcome to the next level, review a few and learn some new trees. Dazzle your friends with your new skills!
Meeting instructions will be sent the day before the walk.”
