From the organizers:
You knew he made hot sauce but did you know he was a master of salsa? Until now he’s kept his salsa-skills a secret, only gracing the lucky few with some of the best batches of salsa Brooklyn has ever seen. Ben Flanner, president of Brooklyn Grange, knows a thing or two about heat and he’s ready to share his salsa with you!
In this two-hour, hands on workshop we’ll start with a quick harvest of tomatoes and peppers and a few other ingredients from our rooftop farm and then move into production mode. You’ll learn what goes into each batch, how to determine heat levels, and how to make a salsa that will leave your chip bowl empty before you know it (it’s a good problem to have, we promise)! We’ll also talk about the differences between green and red sauces, fresh and cooked salsas, how to consider the flavor profiles of your ingredients when putting together your sauce and where to source the best tortilla chips in NYC.
