Born as part of the annual Food Book Fair, Food + Enterprise is launching its own conference this February 27—March 1. A collaboration between Slow Money NYC, the book fair, and the Natural Resource Defense Council, the weekend will combine some of the most successful events from the book fair with new panels and discussions aimed at “promoting understanding and collaboration amongst multiple stakeholders — farmers, entrepreneurs, consultants, funders and investors — who aim to finance a better local food system.”

Last year Food + Enterprise sold out tickets for their pitch competition and entrepreneurship clinics. They’re reviving and expanding these popular workshops and adding community dinners, focus groups, and monthly events leading up to the conference. The pitch competition, dubbed “Shark Tank for foodies,” has helped launch projects from hydroponic farms to vineyards. In addition to a cash prize for the winners of the competition, this year’s competition will also help all finalists launch Barnraiser campaigns. Tickets will go on sale at the end of this week.
