Win me.

Each week we’re picking one reader of Edible Brooklyn.com or Edible Manhattan.com to win prizes like charcoal grills, Breville kitchen appliances, a Bodum French press or even a year’s subscription to our own magazines. This week’s winner will receive this killer Fyrkat 13.4-inch portable charcoal grill.

Here’s how to enter to win this week’s contest: Tell us about your favorite local food artisan in the comments below before midnight on Friday. Be sure to register with a real email address so we can contact you later if you win. We’ll pick a reader based on what we think is the best response. Extra points for those who lead us to best–ofs we haven’t already tracked down for our online listings.

Last week’s winner is Savona Bailey-McClain, who answered our question about your favorite farmer’s market. She writes:

“My favorite Farmer’s Market is the new West Harlem Farmer’s Market located on 137th Street and Broadway. It took our community five years to get this market which operates from July to November. The site for the market is a triangle park called Montefiore Park that’s below the hill to City College. So, college students, residents and teachers in two nearby public schools can get fresh vegetables and fruit. Last year, there was some special events like hot apple cider and huge sun flowers. The juices from Red Orchard are a big hit too because the market is offering more diversity in our food selections. Instead of leaving the neighborhood, we can get good produce right in our backyard. And it feels good to interact with neighbors.”

We recently discovered Brooklyn Salsa Company products and their stuff is addictive! Great for parties and “the harvest” salsa is super delicious!

Steve’s Authentic Key Lime pies right here in Red Hook, Brooklyn! They do one thing only, key lime pies in a few different sizes and one devilish deviation called the Swingle, a pie on an ice cream stick covered with frozen chocolate. Yum.

The homemade crumbly pie crust, the light and airy custard that has the perfect balance of sweet and tart is simply sublime. A very grown up dessert! My fave part is the basket of fresh key limes on the counter, take one with and slice it fresh before serving up the pie. Sweet touch ;)

The tiny little door with the PIES HERE sign transports you to somewhere southern Florida no matter what season it is here in Brooklyn. And the best part is that you can walk out and polish off the Teaser ( one person size pie) or Swingle while taking in the Brooklyn Waterfront right outside the pie shop.

Favorite food artisan? Nunu chocolates, hands down. This is the perfect cozy spot to hang out on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Granted, I am a chocoholic, but their stuff is to die for. All is made fresh in the back of the shop and you can take a peek at the action while sipping your hot chocolate and enjoying the laid back atmosphere.

When trying to find a little something to bring for friends and family that are out of town, their cute gift boxes displaying “Handmade in Brooklyn” are perfect. I always get a few when visiting my peeps in Europe.

The staff at Nunu’s is awesome. They definitely know their chocolates and are never to busy to explain their new menu item or even for a quick chat.

So folks, what are you waiting for? Head over to Nunu’s in Boerum Hill and give them a try. I promise it will become your nu favorite spot!
