The Meat Hook

The Meat Hook specializes in fantastic cuts of high-quality beef, lamb, pork and poultry—all from whole animals via small, local farms. It’s a meat counter from a new generation of locavore and ecologically minded butchers. Founder Tom Mylan didn’t learn the trade from the family business but apprenticed alongside Josh Applestone of Fleisher’s. Both familiar and harder-to-find meat cuts are available, and housemade sausages range in flavor and style from Lamb Masala, Spicy Italian and Bratwurst to Andouille, Mexican Chorizo and Bahn Mi—all made with pure, natural fillings. While they once shared a space with kitchen supply store the Brooklyn Kitchen, the Meat Hook is now on its own with a new Graham Avenue address as well as a must-visit nearby sandwich shop.  Michelle Kiefer / The Editors
