The Edible Guide

Our picks for where to eat, drink and shop in Brooklyn.

When Andrew Tarlow and Mark Firth opened Diner in an old dining car with chef Caroline Fidanza in 1999, likely none expected the place would stick around for nearly two decades — forget forging a new culinary ethos and a restaurant and hospitality group that is now one of the city’s most respected. While both Firth and Fidanza have moved on to other worthy ventures, Diner remains one of Brooklyn’s very best restaurants for everything from weekday breakfast to dinner burgers, steaks and other farm-sourced, creative yet casual food that is always deeply satisfying.
