Submit a Haiku, Win a Class at Momofuku Milk Bar

Our annual Eat Drink Local issue hits the streets at the beginning of June, and to go along with this year’s issue, we want to know what’s made you fall in love with Brooklyn’s food and drink culture. Is there a coffee shop you’ve been frequenting for decades? A pickle producer you couldn’t live without? Do you draw daily inspiration from your own home garden?

It’s easy to go on forever, but we’re challenging you to tell us what you love about Brooklyn food and drink in just a few words. Here are the rules of the game: a haiku must consist of seventeen syllables split into three lines of five, seven, and five syllables, respectively.

Here’s an example from one of our twitter followers:

@mytweeterature:
Edible Brooklyn
Dishing the best local eats
Straight to my table

We’ll reprint some of our favorite haikus in the next print issue, and we’ll choose one lucky poet to win two spots in a Bake the Book class at Momofuku Milk Bar. In the Bake the Book series at their Williamsburg test kitchen, Momofuku’s baking team will give you the tools and knowledge you need to make the cakes, truffles and pies from their cookbook. You can find class details and dates here.
