This year’s Eat Drink Local Week may have come and gone, but the habits that kids at our Eat Play Local Day event at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan picked up will stay with them long after they outgrow their overalls and tricycles.
Eat Drink Local Week
Usually we’re advocates of device-free dining. But that was before the #eatdrinklocal Twitter stream started buzzing with pictures, recipes and farmstand tips on how our readers are eating, shopping and dining during Eat Drink Local.
Eat Drink Local Week has finally arrived and it’s going to be a hot one. So it’s your duty, really, to enjoy a bottle of chilled rose–one of our featured local ingredients of the week. In our Edible Guide you’ll find links to dozens of wine shops around the city where you can pop in a grab a bottle.
With Eat Drink Local Week just two days away, it’s time to stock up on our 8 featured ingredients and get cooking! Join us this Saturday as we kick off our week of local food fun at the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket with cooking demos and prize giveaways.
Next Wednesday, June 27, the Children’s Museum of Manhattan will host an Eat Play Local Day, with kid-friendly, healthy cooking demos and important health information for parents. As an extra incentive to register for the event, which is free with paid admission to the museum, Cricket Azima, founder of The Creative Kitchen–one of the event participants–has offered up a copy of her book “Everybody Eats Lunch.”
As we kick off Eat Drink Local Week with our second annual Meet Your Maker, June 20th, take a step behind the scenes with a tour of one of four awesome local Brooklyn businesses: Brooklyn Brewery, Brooklyn Winery, NY Distilling Co. and Toby’s Estate Coffee–samples included! Then join us back at Brooklyn Brewery for beers, a GIANT SUB from the Brooklyn Kitchen and snacks from Acme Smoked Fish.
Stop by the Children’s Museum of Manhattan on June 27th from 11am to 1:30 pm for a fun and food-filled Eat Play Local Day celebration that both kids and parents can sink their teeth into.
Our fourth annual Eat Drink Local week begins June 23rd, which means we once again need your help choosing the Seven Ingredients of the Week.
