Eat Local NY is hands-down the most endearing online marketplace I’ve visited in a long time. It’s a straightforward no-frills website, but I don’t miss infinite scroll or artfully manipulative layouts. Their mission is simple: buy goods made from small-scale New York-based producers, and they’ll donate a percentage of your purchase to feeding and educating a child in need. Their news page predominantly consists of poetry, and the pages are peppered with inspiring Joan Gussow and Helen Keller quotes.

They’ve added a few new producers this holiday season. Urban Sproule offers flights of salt sourced from waters off Long Island and processed on Manhattan rooftops. Deya’s Gluten-Free cake flour and Liebe is Jam also grace December’s lineup. Check out their offerings and don’t miss the the sambal or the gooseberry achaar.
