For many of us, our love of food and drink is inspired by the lady who fed us first. To show our gratitude, along with the good taste that they imparted to us, we’ve selected a few gifts from local producers in and around Brooklyn.

1. A tea towel subscription from Brooklyn-based Tea Towel Time

Claudia Pearson’s towels may be more for looking than for cleaning. She designs the illustrations that are printed on all-cotton tea towels made from repurposed flour sacks, which means that the the towels can be super durable and absorbent if put to practical use. Consider gifting a three-, six- or twelve-month subscription that will deliver a new and vibrant design straight to your mama’s door once a month.

2. Tickets to our upcoming events

You know us — we love a good shindig and are throwing several this spring and summer. Here’s a quick breakdown:

Edible Institute, May 10-11: Join the food movement’s movers and shakers — including Mark Bittman, Anna Lappé, Tom Philpott and over 80 Edible publishers — this weekend at a two-day celebration and discussion of where the American food movement is and where it’s going.

The Quarterly Carousal, May 15: Out on Long Island? Try Brooklyn’s latest beer, Ridgy Didge, pick up the latest issue of Edible Long Island and sample locally made snacks.

Brooklyn Uncorked, May 29: Come on out for an evening of sauntering around the incredible Skylight One Hanson, sipping from a wide assortment of award-winning New York state wines and feasting on some of the finest fare in Brooklyn (and Manhattan).

The Big Chill, June 23: Beat the heat and join us for a casual, cold food feast at the Brooklyn Brewery. The menu will be served family-style along with cans of Lager, EIPA and Summer Ale from Brooklyn Brewery.

Bryant Park BBQ, June 25: Bring your appetite and join us at Bryant Park. Food will be provided by ‘wichcraft while beverages will be provided by local breweries and wineries (non-alcoholic beverages will be avaiable, too).

Good Beer, July 31: We’ve gathered some of the best craft breweries around and paired them alongside some of the city’s finest fare for a tasty and memorable evening.

3. Ginger syrup from Morris Kitchen

As we wrote in our most recent drink issue, “there’s nothing simpleton about Morris’s simple syrups.” You can make a mean Moscow Mule or Dark and Stormy with this ginger syrup, which “gets its powerful punch from juicing the rhizome with no added water.”

4. Bellocq tea

Tea is a classic Mother’s Day gift, and we’re especially fond of Bellocq‘s selection. Nab the breakfast blend if you’re planning on making brunch (suggested ingredients listed below), or peruse their extensive selection on their website.

5. Large seasonal flower bouquet from Pretty Streets Botanicals

You can do better than bodega flowers. This seasonal bouquet is proof.

6. Spinach, celery root and Gruyère gluten-free quiches from Krumville Bake Shop

If you’ve got a mama who has gone gluten-free, then this quiche from Krumville Bake Shop is a delicious brunch bet. Pair with this raw kale salad with peanut-honey dressing from the Edible Brooklyn Cookbook.

7. Make your own breakfast in bed or brunch with pasture-raised eggs, asparagus and sausage

Putting your cooking skills to work is always a good call, but remember that any meal is only as good as its ingredients. Get the best of what’s in season delivered to your Brooklyn door — for free — from Good Eggs.

This post is the most recent in a collaboration with Good Eggs. You can read more about these products on their website. Looking for more seasonal stories? Check out the “What’s in Season?” section of our sidebar (to the right) for some of the best of our timely content.
